40 Years of Formula Ford celebrated in 2009

Merry Christmas from Formula Ford Queensland. Join us next year for the celebration of 40 years of competitive cost-effective open wheel racing.

Lawrence wins thriller title

David Lawrence claimed the 2008 Championship in fine style at Queensland Raceway, leading from the first practice session and was never headed. James Mann fought hard from behind in all three races but could not stop Lawrence from closing down his point’s deficit and moving ahead with a win in the final race of the day.

In true Queensland Championship style, not only did the title come down to a close points battle in the last race, but also ended with a bang when the sky opened up and dropped torrential rain on the circuit only a few laps from the end. With half of the field bunkered in sand-traps around the circuit the race was halted and David Lawrence picked up his first circuit racing championship win.

David thanked his parents and the BF Racing crew for making the win possible.

BF Racing does it again

For the second year in a row a BF Racing prepared car has won the Queensland title, and scores an additional podium via Roman Krumins 3rd placing. This takes the BF Racing podium count for the last three years to 2 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third.

With 2009 approaching fast all teams are busily preparing to take on the might of the BF Racing crew. With Greg Fahey Motorsport, X-treme Racing, Tony Chapman Motorsport and Peters Racing all preparing cars for the new year, how many other teams will spring up in 2009?
